How Ally Transformed Her Life
And How You Can Too
When Ally first came to me, she was in a state of overwhelm. Life felt like it was caving in on her after a painful relationship breakdown, and the weight of her daily responsibilities left her feeling stuck. She was constantly in “go mode,” solving everyone else’s problems, yet there was no time or space left for her to process her own grief, loss, and betrayal.
Ally’s Primary Struggle: Feeling Alone and Overwhelmed
Ally’s self-worth was tied entirely to her achievements, whether in her relationships, motherhood, or career. She was so focused on getting everything done that she didn’t know how to stop, pause, or care for herself. This left her feeling powerless, burned out, and, over time, deeply resentful of the constant demands placed on her. It was as if she was running on fumes, with no room left for her own needs.
How We Worked Together to Create Change
When Ally joined the program, the first step was to slow everything down. We needed to create space for her to see clearly—how she was running on empty and what that was costing her emotionally, mentally, and physically. Together, we worked on setting boundaries, shifting her perspective, and learning to tune into her own needs. We used the trauma-focused self-worth model that emphasises practices like:
- Complicated Grief Processing
- Shame Reduction
- Genuine Compassion
Through these approaches, Ally began to see how her patterns of neglecting herself were tied to a deeper issue: her self-worth. This wasn’t just about managing her to-do list or avoiding burnout—it was about healing the root causes of why she kept putting herself last.
The Transformation
The change in Ally was incredible. By learning to put her needs at the forefront, she found balance for the first time in years. She started showing up for herself in ways she hadn’t before—taking accountability for her well-being and establishing non-negotiable self-care practices. The more she nurtured herself, the more empowered and connected she became.
Now, Ally enjoys deeper, more meaningful relationships with her children and no longer feels weighed down by the emotional burdens of the past. She’s learned to stand strong in her own worth and feels alive and fulfilled in ways she never thought possible.
